The Call to Suffer (Colossians 1:24-29)

Colossians 1:24-29; I Corinthians 15:19; I Timothy 6:5; I John 4:10; John 10:11

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling upwhat is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

- Colossians 1:24-29

I. Our Suffering Completes Christ’s
II. Our Suffering Makes Disciples
III. Our Suffering is Joy-Filled

So if that is what this verse does not mean, then what does it mean? What is lacking in the afflictions of Christ is not the perfection of the value of its atoning worth, but the personal presentation to those for whom He paid the price. Christ, by the Father’s design, means for His atoning sufferings to be offered and presented to all those for whom He died, in every people group in the world; and this is to be done through suffering.

________ has been speaking out against gay marriage Someone just confronted her about her saying she is gay. ________told them she used to be but has turned her sin over to God and she is no longer a homosexual and will never be again. She is finding herself attracted to men now. She admitted it has been a two year struggle but she’s happy now. Truly happy. They said she’s lying to herself and can’t choose to be heterosexual. She said she can control herself and choose not to sin. She’s chooses God over everything. It’s because of your teaching, love and support she’s been able to turn away from sin and choose God. Enjoy this victory and know you’re leading us in the way Christ wants and by God’s will. Your house just got bigger, my brother and pastor.
